Agriculture (Organic Production) Certificate IV (NRT) - Armidale Campus
ObjectivesYou will learn how to organise and coordinate the procedures employees in the organic production/agriculture/horticulture industry must carry out as well as learning technical skills that a senior employee/supervisor in anorganic production enterprise should have. You will also be able toimplement and monitor occupational health, safe working practices andquality assurance practices to industry standards. This course is also suitable for owners of organic production operationswho want to enhance their technical and supervisory knowledge and skills. You will be able to apply these skills in farming organic produce and the management of organic enterprises. This program allows you to develop skills and knowledge in supervising/managing organic production programs, producing marketable goods to meet customer specifications, applying quality assurance practices to industry standards, and maintaining the sustainability of the enterprise according to National Organic Standards.
Entry requirementsThis course is for people in the organic production/agriculture/horticulture industry with some expertise who want to develop advanced technical and supervisory skills.
Academic titleAgriculture (Organic Production) Certificate IV (NRT)
Course descriptionWhat you must do to complete the course
The course structure below shows what you must do to complete this course.
units/modules are arranged in groups and sometimes also in subgroups.
You must complete each group as specified as well as following the course
completion instructions. If a course contains optional groups there will
statement at the top of the course indicating how many you must do. At the
top of any group containing optional subgroups there will be a statement
saying how many you must do.
The Training Package requirements for the Certificate IV in Agriculture
(Organic Production) are:
Learners need to achieve 12 units of competency as follows:
- between 5 to 8 units from Group A
- between 5 and 7 units from Group B
- a maximum of 2 units from Group C
The total number of units of competency that must be completed to gain the
qualification is 12 and ALL of the units presented for this qualification
must relate to organic production/agriculture work procedures, activities
or contexts. In addition at least 10 of the units selected to make up
this qualification must be aligned clearly to units of competency with
Certificate IV outcomes.
The Certificate IV in Agriculture (Organic Production) contains 3 groups of
units:
Group 1 contains units addressing the key technical, supervisory and
planning functions that have been designated for the Agriculture (Organic
Production) specialisation at AQF level 4. These units directly align to
the units of competency in Group A in the Training Package. Learners must
complete between 5 and 8 units from this group.
Group 2 contains units addressing relevant units of competency at AQF
level 4 from the Conservation and Land Management Training Package
(RTD02), the Rural Production Training Package (RTE03), the Amenity
Horticulture Training Package (RTF03) and/or any other endorsed Training
Packages. These units directly align to the units of competency in Group B
complete between 5 and 7 units from this group.
Group 3 contains units that are included in the Rural Production, Amenity
Horticulture and Conservation Land Management Training Package at AQF
levels III, IV and V and align to Certificate III, IV or Diploma outcomes.
this group must be relevant to work undertaken in the rural sector. These
units align with units of competency from Group C of the Rural Production
Training Package. Relevant Certificate III, Certificate IV and Diploma
units from other endorsed Training Packages can be added to this group.
Institutes should contact the PINRCC to have additional units added to
this group.
Group 887 is an enrichment group that contains units/modules which provide
underpinning knowledge and skills to support other units / modules in this
course. These modules do not count towards course completion.
The teaching section should contact the course developer if a request is
received from:
- an industry group to include a specific unit of competency in a
qualification that is not already in the course.
- a learner seeking recognition for a unit(s) of competency not included
the course and achieved at another RTO or TAFE institute.
The course developer needs to:
- check if the requested unit(s) of competency meet the Training Package
qualification completion rules.
- include the unit(s) of competency in the course structure in an
appropriate group for delivery of recognition.
