Bachelor of Arts(ANU)/Bachelor of Social Work (ACU)
ObjectivesGraduates will receive two awards, a Bachelor of Arts from ANU and a Bachelor of Social Work from ACU National.The aim of the joint degree program is to provide an education in social work that is informed by a critical understanding of the social science disciplines and that is oriented to the professional values and practice of the social work profession.

Course descriptionThis course educates social workers according to the standards set by the Australian Association of the Social Workers (AASW). The course provides a broad, contextual professional education, based on the analysis of social processes and human behaviour.
This professional education will inform social work practice in its purpose of:
1. protecting vulnerable members of society;
2. empowering individuals to determine and change the conditions in which they live;
3. facilitating the participation of individuals, families, groups and communities in the decisions affecting their lives;
4. helping change social institutions and policies that constrain development;
5. contributing to a more equitable distribution of resources in society.

EFTSL value of units: All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
1. Requirements for Completion of the Pass Degree
1.1 To quality for the Bachelor of Arts component, a student will complete sixteen units (the equivalent of 96 cp at ANU) in accordance with the requirements specified by the Faculty of Arts of Australian National University for the dual degree.
1.2 To qualify for the Bachelor of Social Work component, a student must complete 160 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:
1. 120 cp from Core Units;
2. 40 cp from Field Placements Units.
2. Requirements for Completion of the Honours Degree 18
To qualify for the Honours degree a student must satisfy the requirements set out in the rules for Honours in the relevant single degree.
