Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Business Information Systems
ObjectivesThe Bachelor of Business/Bachelor of Business Information Systems dual degree aims to provide both technical skills in technology-based information systems and skills development in a specific business major. It provides a general focus on managerial decision-making, business and personal leadership, the ethics of values-based management, and relevant work experience. It is designed for students who wish to combine the benefits of technical skills that are now much sought after in the business information systems industry with majors in accounting, financial services, human resource management or marketing.
Entry requirementsQueensland Prerequisites: English (4, SA); Mathematics A, B or C (4, SA) – any combination. New South Wales Assumed knowledge: Mathematics (any). Prerequisites: For Accounting and Financial Service majors: Mathematics (Performance Bands 3-6). Victoria Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 25 in English (any) and in Mathematics (any).

Course descriptionIn keeping with the Mission of the University, several units within the degree focus on business ethics and personal values of the individual in a workplace setting. One compulsory unit of Professional Industry Experience is also incorporated in the degree. This unit is not an academic unit and does not involve regular classes or academic study fees. The Professional Industry Experience gained over the three years is designed to assist students to link their studies to the 'real world' of work, and to assist in gaining career employment on graduation.

1. Definitions
“Bachelor of Business Major”: 80 cp as prescribed for the relevant Major in the course rules for the Bachelor of Business.
“Bachelor of Business Information Systems Major”: 80 cp as prescribed for the relevant Major in the course rules for the Bachelor of Business Information Systems.
2. Requirements for Completion of the Pass Degrees
To qualify for the Pass degrees, a student must complete:
1. 320 cp consisting of:
1. 140 cp from Core Units in the Schedule of Unit Offerings;
2. 80 cp from any Bachelor of Business Major;
3. 80 cp from any Bachelor of Business Information Systems Major;
20 cp from other units listed in the Schedules for the respective degrees or from any other discipline (subject to campus availability and unit limitations), and provided that prerequisite and co-requisite requirements are met. A student taking an Accounting major must complete BAFN200 Principles of Finance;
2. BIPX100 Professional Experience A.
3. Requirements for Completion of the Honours Degree
To qualify for the Honours degree a student must satisfy the Honours requirements set out in the rules for Honours in the relevant single degree.
