  • Objectives Want to know how companies, the government and households work? This major, which can be undertaken as part of the Bachelor of Commerce, focuses on financial markets and institutions. You will study developments in the financial sector and the management of financial institutions, while learning about the field of economics. You will develop a working knowledge of the Australian banking and financial system with a broad perspective of the environment of business. This major will equip you with the knowledge and skills required to make productive contributions to your employers early in your career. You will understand the relevant issues in the financial sector and develop the skills required to keep up with and understand new developments in the field after graduation.

    Introduction

    The banking major focuses on financial markets and institutions. Students study developments in the financial sector and cover basic tenets of management of financial institutions while also receiving a sound grounding in the economics discipline. It provides a working knowledge of the Australian banking and financial system with a broad perspective of the environment of business. It will develop sufficient understanding of relevant issues in the financial sector to ensure graduates are able to make productive contributions early in their employment.
