Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Systems Engineering)
ObjectivesComputer systems engineering covers the role of computers as elements in engineering systems. In this course you will study alongside electrical power and electronic and communication engineering students in your first two years. In your third year you will commence specialisation in computer systems engineering, exploring the areas of artificial intelligence, robotics, machine vision, computer-aided design and manufacture, automation and process control. You will also study the fields of office and factory automation, machine learning, automatic control, information appliances, intelligent embedded and distributed systems, real time processing, computer architecture, hardware software co-design, computer communications and the design and management of computer systems. Prior to graduation, you will complete at least 12 weeks of engineering work experience during your vacations. This professional practice will be undertaken while you are still a student to make your theoretical studies more meaningful.
Entry requirementsTEE Applicable Mathematics plus at least two of TEE Calculus, Chemistry and Physics.

Course descriptionBachelor of Engineering (Computer Systems Engineering)
BEng(Curtin) OR BEng(Hons)(Curtin)
Course CRICOS Code: 052793J
Registered full-time Duration for International Onshore Students on student visas: 4 Years
Introduction
This course requires a minimum of eight semesters of full-time study. The first four semesters are studied in common with all students. In the fifth semester, students commence specialisation in Computer Systems Engineering. Office and factory automation, computer aided design and manufacturing, robotics, machine learning, automatic control, information appliances, intelligent embedded and distributed systems, real time processing, computer architectures, hardware software co-design, computer communications, and the design and management of computer systems all fall within the field of computer systems engineering. As a consequence, the demand for graduates in these areas is far outstripping supply and career opportunities abound.
Course Entry Requirements/Prereq
