  • Objectives The Bachelor of Health (Nursing) Post-Registration is designed to provide an undergraduate degree opportunity for registered nurses who hold a diploma or hospital-based certificate in nursing or the equivalent. It is appropriate for nurses who seek a generic scholarly-inquiry oriented focus in didactic and clinical education. The program will help meet educational needs, related to health care in the state, nationally and internationally. It is intended to provide the student with academic parity with other tertiary education health professionals. The intention of the program is to enable graduates to further develop as practitioners, promoters of health and critical thinkers with greater awareness of the role and benefits of research. The Bachelor of Health (Nursing) Post-Registration is open to both registered nurses who hold a Diploma in Nursing from a college or university and to registered nurses who hold a nursing certificate from a hospital-based program within their own country. All applicants must hold a current general nurse registration certificate, which indicates their authority to practice as a registered nurse in their own country. Nurses who have completed a recognised re-entry program or Queensland Nursing Council Competence Assessment Service Program should consider this program to further enhance their nursing knowledge and skills.

    About Nursing (Post-Registration)

    This program will assist you to build upon your knowledge and skills and enable you to integrate the functions of a clinical practitioner, promoter of health, critical thinker and researcher, thus assisting you to emerge as a professional who is able to contribute to society as an informed citizen and a professional. Through the incorporation of elements of critical theory that underpin the program, you (the student) may be facilitated to achieve knowledge and expertise relevant to both your professional and personal life. You will be encouraged to develop the qualities, skills and attributes of a life long learner.

    The Bachelor of Health (Nursing) Post-Registration qualification enhances your career pathway as a clinician, researcher, educator, manager or health promoter.  Employment opportunities are found in health centres, hospitals, occupational health and industry, health promotion and education and many other diverse health care settings.


    Program Structure
    Students are required to complete 6 compulsory core courses and 2 electives. Full-time students should aim to complete 4 courses per term and part-time students should complete 2 courses per term.
