Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging) – conversion course
ObjectivesCSU’s Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging), offered by distance education, focuses on the techniques and equipment used in diagnostic radiography and in other imaging modalities, to prepare graduates for a career in this highly technical area of health care.
Academic titleBachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging) – conversion course
Course descriptionAbout the course
The Bachelor of Medical Radiation Science (Medical Imaging) conversion course allows qualified radiographers who hold non-Australian qualifications and whose qualifications are not recognised as being an Australian three-year, full-time degree equivalent or qualified diagnostic radiographers who hold a three-year full-time Associate Diploma or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography, awarded by an Australian tertiary institution, or equivalent to upgrade to academic degree level.
Due to the diverse range of primary academic qualifications and experience possessed by applicants, there are three levels of entry. See Admission criteria / credit below.
Prospective students should note that the course structure is currently being reviewed and there may be substantial changes to some subject offerings and entry level requirements. These changes are aimed at further enhancing subject content and graduate outcomes.
Professionals teaching you professional skills
The course is taught by dedicated professionals with many years of collective experience in clinical radiography. They are accredited radiographers, qualified physicists and sonographers.
Credit
Applicants who have completed recognised academic courses in specialist areas of Medical Imaging, in addition to their basic qualification, may seek credit for some subjects in the course.
Entry at Level 1

Upon admission, students are awarded a credit package of 144 points.
Australian entrants - Entry at Level 3
Applicants assessed as having an academic qualification of three years full-time equivalent (for example, Diploma of Health Science (Medical Imaging) awarded by Charles Sturt University, or an equivalent diploma from another Australian institution, British HDCR, Singapore’s Nanyang Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent). Upon admission, students are awarded a credit package of 160 points.
Normal course duration
Level 1: Part-time 2 years (4 sessions)

Graduate comment
"The research and methodology subjects brought to my attention concepts of research processes and practicalities in using them. Pathology reinforced my knowledge but also gave me new ideas. It showed me how to tie things together."
