ObjectivesProvides students with the essential knowledge, competencies and professional attitudes required by middle and senior levels of management. Commences with an introduction to the sport industry and focuses upon an application of the key aspects of management, marketing, communication, planning, economics and finance, community engagement, facility planning, research methods, legal aspects, venue and event management, and business planning. Students also undertake a range of practical industry placements which provide them with necessary workplace experiences, as well as vital networking opportunities. Students also have the opportunity to further specialise in various fields (such as marketing, management, public relations, mass communication, eco-recreation, tourism management, human resource management, sports science, or human performance) to give their studies a stronger industry focus in that area.

This course is available for on-campus study by students with an International student visa.
This course structure contains information about the units which comprise the course as well as the credit points required to successfully complete it.
The Bachelor of Sport Management degree requires a minimum of 360 credit points (24 units) and normally requires three years of full-time study or the part-time equivalent.
The degree has the following main components:
(i) a core program of fourteen (14) units of 15 credit points = 210 credit points
(ii) a supplementary program of ten (10) units of 15 credit points = 150 credit points consisting of:
* a 10 unit supporting major; or
* an 8 unit major or supporting major and 2 electives; or
* a 6 unit minor and a 4 unit minor; or
* a 6 unit minor and 4 electives;or
* a 4 unit minor and 6 electives; or
* two 4 unit minors and 2 electives; or
* 10 electives.
NOTE: All Bachelor of Sport Management students must complete a minimum of 75 credit points (5 units) at third year level and no more than 150 credit points (10 units) at first year level.
