ObjectivesThe Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design course is designed for students interested in a broadly based course that integrates the study of studio-based art, art and design history and theory with a strand of graphic design. There is provision for specialisation by each individual student in the third year of the course as well as for an internship and acquisition of relevant business skills. The course prepares students for ethical, professional practice in a diversity of careers in visual arts and design.
Practical experienceStudents in the Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design course are required to complete 15 days or equivalent of Volunteer Experience to meet graduation requirements. This unit does not incur any HECS liability or fees and is graded on a Pass/Fail basis. Students normally register in this unit in Year 2 Semester 2 but may complete Volunteer Experience any time during the first two years of their course. Further information will be available in Orientation Week.
Entry requirementsNew South Wales Recommended studies: Visual Arts Victoria Prerequisites: Units 3 and 4 – a study score of at least 25 in English (any) and in one of art, studio arts, or visual communication and design.

1. Requirements for Completion of the Pass Degree
To qualify for the Pass degree, a student must complete:

2. Requirements for Completion of the Honours Degree
To qualify for the Honours degree a student must, in addition to satisfying the requirements of the Pass degree, complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Honours Units.
