ObjectivesCertificate I in Spoken and Written English is a beginner course for learners who have just started learning English or who have had minimal exposure to English. This course is suitable for those whose first language is not English. The course develops the skills for learners to satisfy their basic everyday language needs. You will learn how to prepare a learning plan, participate in formal learning environments and access learning resources. You will learn how to understand and participate in basic spoken communication in familiar settings. You will learn how to read and write in familiar contexts. You will learn how to recognise numbers, do basic maths, read maps, read graphs, and identify shapes By the end of this course you will be able to: 1. Demonstrate and apply knowledge and skills to a narrow range of routine and predictable tasks 2. Receive and pass on messages and information 3. Demonstrate rersponsibility for own learning.
Entry requirementsInitial assessment across the four skill areas must be completed to determine the entry point. Other Entry Requirements Initial assessment across the four skill areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing against the International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR) determines the entry point to a particular Certificate level. The proficiency level for entry into Certificate I in Spoken and Written English is ISLPR 0 across all skill areas. For learners with a mixed profile it is possible to be enrolled across Certificate levels.
