ObjectivesThis course provides training in engineering technology. It is offered as a traineeship, combining off-the-job and on-the-job training with practical work experience. This course will provide you with the knowledge, skills and application you will require as a trainee engineering technician.
Entry requirementsSuccessful completion of Year 12 (or equivalent) with appropriate maths and science subjects. Before you begin your training, you will need to be employed as a trainee, with a training agreement established between you, your employer and BRIT.

Employment Opportunities
After successfully completing this course you will be eligible for employment in the growing manufacturing industry in process welding or machining production. Opportunities range from small businesses needing one off jobs, to extensive production of equipment for use in world class industry. Other opportunities exist in computer drafting or using computer controlled machines.
Duration Options
As a traineeship, the course lasts up to 12 months from the date you begin employment, but training may not commence immediately.
Further Study Options
On successfully completing this course you may choose to apply for enrolment in the Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Trade) or the Diploma of Engineering Technology.
