ObjectivesThis qualification covers workers who provide a range of community services and community interventions to clients with mental health issues and/or implement health promotion. Work may take place in a range of contexts such as community based organisations, residential rehabilitation services and outreach services. The qualification defines the knowledge and skills required by support workers and case-workers who work autonomously under the broad guidance of others to assist people with mental health issues.
Entry requirementsYou will need the organisational, communication, study, literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to year 10. Prior experience in this field is not mandatory but will certainly benefit your application. Other Entry Requirements You must attend an information session and interview sessions. Students will be required to complete a police check and/or working with children check at the beginning of the course, as it is a requirement of any human service work.

On successfully completing this course you will be eligible for employment in a wide range of support/case worker roles in community based organisations, residential rehabilitation services and outreach services. These positions may involve generalist services or specialised services such as family, health education, rehabilitation, Indigenous mental health, or domestic violence.
