  • Objectives The Certificate IV in Nursing (Enrolled/Division 2 Nursing) covers the application of nursing skills and knowledge required to be eligible for enrolment (or registration as a Division 2 Nurse in Victoria) with state and territory nursing authorities.
  • Entry requirements All applicants must successfully complete: * An approved short course in Medical Terminology, estimated course fee $150. Text: “Introduction to Medical Terminology Health Care” $70. Dates: 27/11/08; 3/12/08/ & 23/01/09 at the City Campus Bendigo. For enrolment details phone 1300 554 248. * A literacy and numeracy selection test compulsory for all applicants in all modes of delivery. The test which costs $45 is conducted by Vetassess. Test date: 4/12/08. Applications done online at www.vetassesstest.com.au Non-compulsory numeracy classes available for Vetassess preparation, estimated cost $100. Dates: 19/11/08; 26/11/08 & 3/12/08 at the City Campus Bendigo. For enrolment details phone 1300 554 248. Individual Interview: Required for fulltime and parttime modes of delivery Not required for traineeship as the employer selects the candidate.     The units in the Nursing course begin with the study of foundational nursing knowledge and skills encompassed in units such as Occupational Health & Safety, Working in the nursing profession, Basic nursing care, Client assessment and Anatomy & physiology. It then progresses to more complex nursing knowledge and skills over the course of study.

    Traineeship Program
    A traineeship program for existing workers will be offered in 2009. Traineeships have an “on the job” and “off the job” component. The program will commence on 19 January 2009, with a two week fulltime (five days per week) study block at BRIT’s City Campus Bendigo, followed by weekly study days (Fridays).  Students will be required to attend two clinical placements of two weeks “off the job” at another health care facility arranged by BRIT.

    Division 2 nurses can seek employment in a variety of health care settings such as:

    Opportunities also exist in remote area nursing.

    Further Study Options    

    Successful completion of this course enables you to articulate into the Diploma of Nursing at Bendigo Regional Institute of Tafe. Diploma units will be offered on a Fee for Service basis in 2009 based on demand. Credit points may be available on application into the Bachelor of Nursing at other higher education institutions.
