Course description
Perform CPR HLTCPR201A is designed to teach the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain breathing and circulation in an adult, child or infant following cardiac arrest, until medical assistance arrives.
Recommended for: Workplace First Aiders and other persons who are required to administer basic life support until professional help arrives. Recommended for parents and carers as well as those in the workplace.
Course Duration: Half day
Prerequisites: Nil. Current industry standard is for this course to be updated every 12 months
Course Content:
• chain of survival
• assessing the situation
• signs of life
• performing CPR
• demonstrating the use of an automated external defibrillator
• care of the unconscious person
• special techniques for children and infants
• CPR in special circumstances
• infection control
• reporting procedures
Assessment Method: Participation in class discussions, demonstration of practical skills and written assessment
Course Award: On successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Health Training Package Perform CPR HLTCPR201A and a wallet card
