ObjectivesIn this course you will explore the organisational context of facilities management and understand the link between facilities management and strategic planning. You’ll learn to manage an organisation’s facilities, considering requirements, planning, delivering, monitoring and reviewing. Assessing facilities performance, implementation of facilities management and risk management are also explored. You will also be given an overview of the project management process and learn the function of contracting and procurement management within a project environment. You’ll study the acquisition process as well as contract administration.
Entry requirementsA bachelor degree or equivalent plus at least three years’ relevant work experience, or a minimum of five years’ relevant management experience.

Introduction
Facilities management oversees the physical infrastructure and associated services within organisations to support and enhance core business processes in the achievement of organisational goals. The complexity of an organisation's physical infrastructureand the diversity of users demand formal, comprehensive, strategic and technical management. This course provides the skills, knowledge and techniques applicable to facilities management processes.
Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites
Students would normally hold a degree from a recognised tertiary institution and three years relevant work experience or a minimum of five years relevant management experience. Entry is subject to approval by the Course Controller.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is one year part-time with all units conducted in the evening.
