ObjectivesThe program is designed for registered teachers who are working predominantly in Catholic education systems or other educational systems with a commitment to the delivery of religious education. It is also suitable for teachers who are four-year-trained who are seeking further qualifications; and to parents, teacher-aides and members of the community seeking qualifications in religious education.
Entry requirementsTeaching qualifications or with special approval from the Dean. Exemptions and substitutions To be eligible for an exemption from a course a student must have received a 'Pass' or above in a course of equivalent content and rated hours from an approved program, which must be at least at bachelors degree level. Documentary evidence of courses and grades must be submitted before consideration can be given for any exemptions. All exemptions must be approved by the Dean. No substitutions will be granted for any course in this program.

About Religious Education
The Graduate Certificate in Religious Education encourages students to reflect upon their own religious experiences in conversation with contemporary pedagogical and theological scholarship. The courses provide opportunities for students to reflect on religious experiences as a worldwide phenomenon; to look at responses to religious experience through the development of religious storytelling, texts, traditions and rituals; to understand and apply an appropriate framework for reading scriptural texts; to consider issues and challenges confronting members of today's society; and to develop pedagogical strategies and skills applicable to teaching religion to young persons.
