Course descriptionAustralian Indigenous Studies is a value-driven program guided by the principles of interdisciplinarity, intellectual exchange, and social relevance. Australian Indigenous Studies offers students perspectives on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and culture. Subjects offered reflect the rich diversity of the field. Themes include Indigenous cultural production, key thinkers and concepts, Settler and Indigenous environmental ethics, Aboriginal women and coloniality, Indigenous health, and issues relating to land, law and philosophy.

A specialisation in Australian Indigenous Studies in the Graduate Diploma of Arts consists of:
Level 1
* one Australian Indigenous Studies Level 1 subject (12.5 points)
Level 2
* 37.5 points of level 2 Australian Indigenous Studies Subjects
Level 3
* The compulsory subject Critical Debates in Indigenous Studies (12.5 points)
* 37.5 points of level 3 Australian Indigenous Studies subjects.
Total 100 points
Students wishing to vary the selection of subjects must consult with the program coordinator.
Students are not permitted to take more than one optional subject (12.5 points) from the list of level 2 or 3 subjects - i.e. a maximum of 12.5 points from either list of options
