Melbourne Law School's graduate program in labour relations law is ideal for legal practitioners, the public sector, private management and personnel services, trade unions and employer groups.

    Subjects cover issues relating to minimum labour standards, enterprise bargaining, discrimination, and health and safety. In-depth analysis of recent developments in this complex and evolving area ensures the program remains at the forefront of legal knowledge in this field.


    Objectives:    

    The graduate programs
    in labour relations law focus on:

        * The identification, use and application of legal principles of Australian labour relations law
        * Emerging and contemporary issues in Australian labour relations law
        * Technical aspects of Australian labour relations law using historical, theoretical and practical perspectives
        * Evaluating and synthesising Australian labour relations law scholarship
        * The development of Australian labour relations law in an international (and comparative) context.

    Course Structure & Available Subjects:    

    It is recommended that students who do not have a law degree from a common law jurisdiction undertake Employment Law before other compulsory subjects.

    All students must complete the three compulsory subjects and one optional subject in the labour relations law program. Students who do not have a law degree from a common law jurisdiction or any prior legal studies or experience are also expected to complete the two-day preliminary subject Australian Legal Process and Legal Institutions.
