ObjectivesThe Graduate Diploma of Psychology is designed for persons who already hold a degree from a recognised university to undertake in full, or complete, an accredited three year undergraduate program in psychology for the purpose of establishing their eligibility for entry into a fourth year degree or postgraduate diploma program in psychology. Students who complete the Graduate Diploma will have broad knowledge of the discipline of psychology and its applications, including major theoretical perspectives within the discipline. In addition, they will have knowledge of the range of core research areas that make up the scientific discipline of psychology and of the research methodologies and statistical techniques commonly used by researchers for information gathering and analysis. They will be able to apply that knowledge when undertaking research activities in the core areas of scientific study.
Entry requirementsThe Graduate Diploma of Psychology is designed for persons who already hold a degree from a recognised university to undertake in full, or complete, an accredited three year undergraduate program in psychology for the purpose of establishing their eligibility for entry into a fourth year degree or postgraduate diploma program in psychology. Computing requirement It is a requirement of enrolment in this program that all students have access to the CQUniversity website via the Internet. Students will be expected to undertake various components of study in the program using email and the Internet. Application for credit transfer Credit for, and exemption from, second and third level courses in psychology will only be granted where the courses which form the basis of the credit application have been taken as part of a program of study in psychology offered by an accredited psychology academic organisational unit. Students shall be eligible to apply for a maximum of 48 units of credit on that basis.

About Psychology

* lifespan psychology and aging; and
* forensic psychology and judicial sentencing.
Career Opportunities
Psychologists are employed in a wide range of fields, such as career counselling, clinical neuropsychology, clinical, child counselling, educational, forensic, health, organisational and sports psychology, as well as in teaching and research. The majority of psychologists work in the private sector, although significant numbers are also employed by government departments and agencies.
Program Structure
To satisfy the requirements of the award, students must complete 12 courses/72 units of credit as outlined in the course details.
Students shall:
*prior to enrolment in the award, hold a degree from a recognised university; and
* obtain credit for a total of 72 units of credit (12 courses) including PSYC12047 and PSYC12048 from the course details in accordance with the following:
1. at least 36 units of credit (6 courses) shall be at Level 3 and include PSYC13015 Advanced Methods in Psychology; and
2. except with the approval of the Head of School, all course prerequisites in psychology shall be satisfied. The normal pattern of enrolment is 12 units of credit (2 courses) at first level, 24 units of credit (4 courses) at second level, and 36 units of credit (6 courses) at third level.
Failure to satisfy these requirements will result in non-eligibility to graduate.
