  • Objectives This program aims to present specialist education and training in the core elements of human resources management (HRM) which will permit students to operate as human resources professionals in the domestic and international business environment. Students considering exiting this program with either a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma should refer to the rules for these programs.
  • Entry requirements To gain entry to this program, students must have: * two years current work experience plus a bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college, or equivalent; or * an honours degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college, or equivalent; or * a CQU Graduate Diploma of Management, or equivalent.

    About Management (Human Resources)

    It's all about management. At some time in your working life you will have to manage something. It might be a section or department of a company or corporation or in the government sector. It might be a hospital ward or it might be your own business.

    Human resource management includes recruitment and selection of appropriate staff and management of the employment relationship, which includes contracts, collective bargaining, reward systems and employee involvement and considers the strategic and operational view of human resource requirements.

    For those already a few years into a career, there is every possibility that your business or management experience will gain you entry into a masters level management degree program that will put you in line for a top management position.


    Career Opportunities

    Graduates enhance their career options in middle or top management positions in industry, commerce or government.  Employment opportunities include specialist positions in employee recruitment and selection, training and development, strategic planning and performance management.


    Students must complete 9 courses (72 units of credit) to graduate with the Master of Management (Human Resources).

    These courses will include:

        * 6 human resource management related courses; and
        * 3 elective postgraduate courses from those offered by the Faculty of Business and Informatics or from another Faculty with approval of the Dean
