  • Objectives In this course you will be given the flexibility to choose from a wide range of coursework and project units in fundamental and applied geoscience to suit your interests and future career needs. Projects usually reflect the research interests of staff and include studies such as igneous and metamorphic petrology, geochronology, structural geology, coal petrology, environmental geochemistry, sedimentology, petroleum geology, micropalaeontology and hydrogeology.

    Introduction

    This course is designed to provide advanced postgraduate training for those intending to upgrade their qualifications or re-train in alternative branches of geoscience. Streams are available in specialist geology topics, petroleum geology, economic geology and hydrogeology.

    Course Entry Requirements/Prerequisites

    Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Geology. Alternatively, admission may be gained with an honours degree from an approved institution.

    Recognition of Prior Learning

    Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.

    Duration and Availability

    This fee-paying course is of one year full-time or two years equivalent part-time study.

    Intermediate Awards 1

    A student who has successfully completed the requirements of an approved intermediate award may apply for graduation in that award subject to approval of Head of School/Department. Fees apply. Intermediate award(s) approved for this course are:
