Course description
This 16-week intensive course provides students with a strong interest in Music Theatre, or who are considering but not yet ready to pursue full professional training, grounding in the three key areas of singing, dancing and acting. Taught by respected industry professionals, this course also offers the perfect means to develop the confidence and skills to prepare and audition for formal training, or to simply develop the ability to craft and enjoy performance at a non-professional level. In the final week of the course, students will have the opportunity to take part in a studio-based showing of work that encompasses all three disciplines.
For fifteen weeks, students will have three specialist practical classes per week: one in singing, one in acting and one in dancing (Including show jazz and tap). Each class will introduce the fundamental skills of each of the three key areas of Music Theatre, including both voice production and song interpretation in singing classes; improvisation, play and text work in acting classes; and technique and choreography in dance. This skills-building work will involve working on material both from within and beyond music theatre repertoire. In the sixteenth week, the three tutors will take the respective roles of Music Director, Director and Choreographer as they work with the students on a selection of songs, scenes and choreographed production numbers to be presented at the end of that final week in a small-scale showing for family and friends.
