Provide Basic Emergency Life Support Course

  • Course description

    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life threatening emergencies using basic life support measures only.


    Recommended for: Any person required to provide first aid as an initial response to an emergency situation at work or home. Recommended for parents as an introduction to emergency life support at home.


    Course Duration: 1 day


    Prerequisites: This unit stands alone and incorporates the content of unit HLTCPR201A Perform CPR


    Course Content:


    Elements

    1 Respond in an emergency situation

    2 Apply identified first aid procedures

    3 Communicate details of the incident

    4 Evaluate own performance


    Assessment Method: Participation in class discussions, demonstration of practical skills and writtenassessment


    Course Award: On successful completion of the course participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the nationally recognised unit of competency from the Health Training Package, Provide basic emergency life support HLTFA201A and a wallet card
