Objectives
Are you seeking a career on a family-owned farm or as a salaried manager? Agribusiness degrees are a combination of commerce and technical agricultural units. This course will provide you with business management training particularly as it relates to commercial farming, with a focus on agricultural production. You will cover the fundamentals of animal production and agronomy within a farm business framework. You will undertake mostly technical units in your first year, including soil science, broadacre agronomy, food and fibre production and animal science. These subjects will be supplemented by introductory units in, agribusiness systems farm business management and agribusiness economics. In your second year, as well as studying agricultural production systems at an advanced level, you will become involved in the business management area through units in farm business management, food and agribusiness marketing and farm accounting and finance. You will be encouraged to work within the industry for a at least ten weeks during semester breaks. This work experience can be carried out on any relevant commercial rural enterprise.

Note
Mature-age students, Agricultural College students with superior grades and students who have completed a TAFE Associate Diploma or Diploma course are encouraged to apply.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis. Recognition of prior learning may be awarded for approved TAFE units. Students who have completed the Associate Degree in Agribusiness may apply for recognition of prior learning in the Bachelor of Agribusiness.
Duration and Availability
This course is two years full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Course Organisation
This course is a combination of lectures, tutorials, laboratory exercises, independent study, relevant industry practical work and visits to commercial enterprises in Western Australia.
Additional Course Expenses
Students may be expected to purchase a number of textbooks, readers and other vital study materials. Students are required to pay for their own food and accommodation while on field trips or camps.
