Objectives
Adopts a contemporary approach to police education within the context of criminology and justice. Students will develop an understanding of the theory and research that informs policing practice and skills in the practical application of policing. The course links closely with the WA Police Academy, giving students the opportunity to participate in scenario training, police ceremonies and physical training. It is recognised by the Western Australian Police and is designed as an entry pathway to policing. Upon completion, and after meeting all entrance requirements of the Western Australia Police, graduates are guaranteed employment as a probationary police constable. The program is also designed as a career development opportunity for those working in the area of policing, security or public safety. It is the only degree in Australia that gives recognition of prior learning to serving officers for recruitment or DEAT training.
