Objectives
Creative advertising design combines words and pictures in a highly organised and persuasive way to sell products and ideas. As part of the Bachelor of Arts (Mass Communication), this stream will prepare you for professional placement in the creative advertising industry. You will focus on professional practice, media production processes, professional institutions and industry processes. A portfolio of work will be developed to assist you in finding future employment and you will learn to communicate through a variety of mediums such as print, television, point of sale, radio, direct mail, web and outdoor advertising.

Course description
Some units are available in a flexible mode and can be studied off-campus or with limited campus attendance. Most Internet units are available off-campus and require regular and reliable Internet access. As some other units involve hands-on production work in radio, print and television journalism, and film and television production, a substantial time commitment on-campus may be required, sometimes outside normal business hours.
Creative Advertising Design Stream (Mass Communication)
Introduction
Advertising Design is offered by the Department of Design. It develops an understanding of the principles and practice of advertising design for print. This stream provides students with an understanding of the creative processes of advertising and the skills to complete an advertising design project. Advertising Design may usefully be combined with the Journalism, Film and Television or Internet Policy and Culture streams.
Career Opportunities
Mass communication, corporate communication and information management continue to grow as sectors of employment. They provide opportunities for many different kinds of employment to graduates of this course. Because this course is designed to develop skills across different kinds of media and information technologies, skills and applications, graduates find many career opportunities flow from the convergence of the particular streams they have taken.
