Objectives
A dynamic course, incorporating proven contemporary teaching strategies, use of ICT and substantial practical experience, and qualifies graduates to teach junior, middle and upper primary students in government and non-government schools across Australia. Graduates with this qualification are also sought overseas. Aims to develop essential knowledge about effective teaching, professional knowledge, dispositions and professional competencies through the study of units in education, literacy and numeracy, curriculum, and pedagogical studies, work place learning and specialisations.

Entry requirements
Minimum admission requirements apply to enter this course. Special admission requirements All students 18 years of age and over will be required to submit a DET National Criminal History Check (CRC) before commencing their first period of Professional Practice. These clearances are valid for three years while enrolled in the course. Application forms and further information can be found at www.det.wa.edu.au/screening/ All students 18 years of age and over will also be required to apply for a Working with Children Check in order to comply with section 6 of the Working with Children Act 2004, in order to complete their Professional Practice. This course is available for on-campus study by students with an International student visa.
This course structure contains information about the units which comprise the course as well as the credit points required to successfully complete it.
The Bachelor of Education (Primary) is a 480 credit point degree. Please note the following:
1. The Bachelor of Education (Primary) is recognised by the Western Australian College of Teaching as meeting the requirements for registration as a teacher in Western Australia.
2. Catholic Education Accreditation to teach Religious Education requires three units in Catholic Education Studies.
3. In each year of the program, students undertake compulsory professional practice..
4. In the fourth year, students undertake an Assistant Teacher Program (ATP) comprising one term of approximately ten weeks of continuous teaching practice. The Assistant Teacher Program is conducted during the seventh semester of the course in the second term of the school year.
5. All students must adhere to the School's Rule and Procedures in relation to professional practice. See hppt://www.education.ecu.edu.au/prac/ .
6. This course has been designed to meet the needs of students wishing to fast track their studies.
7. Opportunities exist for students to complete a semester overseas through the Study Abroad Program.
8. All students enrolled in the Bachelor of Education (Primary) are required to demonstrate competency in literacy and numeracy.
9. In the third and fourth years of the course, students may focus on special education in order to meet accreditation expectations of DETWA in relation to teaching children with special needs.
