  • Objectives
    The Graduate Certificate in Remote Health Management aims to prepare students to effectively manage a primary health care service in a remote area of Australia. Learning outcomes At the completion of the course, students are expected to be able to: * demonstrate an understanding of issues relating to the management of remote health teams, specifically in relation to recruitment, selection, orientation, supervision and performance management, financial reports and operational and strategic planning; and * manage PHC services in a remote context by developing and implementing strategies to maximise workforce capacity; optimising financial capacity; and managing internal and external structures and processes.
  • Entry requirements
    Applicants must normally hold an approved degree or equivalent qualification from an approved tertiary institution. However, the Faculty Board may, under certain circumstances and subject to specific conditions, admit others who can show evidence of fitness for candidature.

  • Course description
    The Graduate Certificate in Remote Health Management is an 18-unit program offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences on a Commonwealth Supported basis. The program is normally undertaken in one semester full-time or two semesters part-time. This program replaces the Remote Health Management specialty stream of the Graduate Certificate in Health.

    Note: Full fee-paying places are available on request to students who are in receipt of a scholarship which covers fee-paying student tuition fees only.

    The course articulates with the Graduate Diploma in Remote Health Management and the Master of Remote Health Management, and the sequentially developed topics allow progression through the three awards.

    Students who have completed the graduate certificate are normally awarded credit for 18 units of topics towards the graduate diploma and masters.

    To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Remote Health Management, a student must complete 18 units with a grade of P or NGP or better in each topic, according to the following program of study:
