Objectives
Designed for practising teachers who wish to engage in meaningful professional learning activities that support their work. Provides teachers with the necessary pedagogical and curriculum knowledge to develop and maintain advanced teaching and curriculum leadership skills. Allow students, through the completion of professional learning and related coursework, to enhance their skills and understandings in particular areas of specialised study. A Catholic Education specialisation is available. These units may be used towards the study component of any Accreditation pathway in Catholic schools.

Entry requirements
Bachelor of Education, or three year degree and Graduate Diploma of Education, or equivalent. Teachers are encouraged to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning for professional learning programs in which they have participated or presented. Three year trained teachers with extensive professional experience may apply for special entry.

Course description
This course is not available for on-campus study by students on an International student visa.
This course structure contains information about the units which comprise the course as well as the credit points required to successfully complete it.
Up to 50% of the course content is flexible and will be determined by the teachers and the Course Coordinator, collaboratively identifying their professional needs within established school and sector/system priorities.
The course consists of 60 credit points selected from the following units, in consultation with the Course Coordinator.

At least 30 credit points selected from:
EDU5121 Professional Learning 1 15
EDU5222 Professional Learning 2 15
EDU6187 Advanced Seminar 15
Remaining units may be selected from approved Level 5/6 Education units, including
EDU6188 Independent Study 15
Alternatively, 30 credit points may be selected from the following units to complete the Catholic Education specialisation:
CED5102 Contemporary Issues in Religious Education 15
CED5105 Exploring the Bible 15
CED5106 Sacraments Within the Catholic Tradition 15
These units may be used towards the study component of any Accreditation pathway in Catholic schools.
