Objectives
This course is designed to meet the needs of geology, physics, mathematics, engineering and surveying graduates seeking a career in geophysics. You will complete a range of coursework units introducing you to all areas of geophysics. You will also undertake an individual or joint investigative project which will develop your data acquisition, processing and interpretation skills.

Introduction
This award is a conversion course to geophysics for graduates with a bachelor degree in geology, physics, mathematics, engineering or surveying. It is not for geophysics graduates. It involves coursework appropriate to the particular student's needs as an introduction to all areas of geophysics.
Course Entry and Requirements
An appropriate bachelor degree in Science, Engineering or Mathermatics.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applications for recognition of prior learning are assessed on an individual basis.
Duration and Availability
This fee-paying course is one year full-time or equivalent part-time study.
Professional Recognition
The Commonwealth Public Service Board accepts the Graduate Diploma in Geophysics as satisfying its requirements for appointment as a professional geophysicist. A degree in geophysics satisfies the academic requirements for membership to The Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists, The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, The Society of Exploration Geophysicists (USA) and the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers.
