Objectives
The primary objective of this program is to provide professional engineers and scientists with an understanding of environmental issues, problems and solutions and with the necessary knowledge and tools to integrate environmental considerations into all aspects of their work.

Entry requirements
A degree in science, engineering or technology. Graduates from other disciplines will be considered, provided that they have an appropriate technical background. Completion of the Graduate Certificate in Environmental Management also allows entry to the Graduate Diploma.
Electives
Students will be given some elective choice as specified under the program structure.
Individual non-standard student programs will be subject to approval by the program controlling Board of Studies, which will take into account the student's past educational background, the level of the proposed alternative courses and their coherence with the overall objectives of the program.

About Environmental Management
CQUniversity's Environmental Management programs are designed to enable practitioners to integrate pro-active environmental management strategies into their everyday professional roles. The programs are offered from the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Health.
The programs aim to provide professional engineers and scientists with an in-depth understanding of environmental issues, problems and solutions. They also aim to provide the necessary knowledge and tools to integrate environmental consideration into all aspects of professional scientific and engineering roles.
Career Opportunities
This program extends the knowledge and expertise of engineers and scientists in environmental management. It may also redirect their employment prospects in managerial and policy positions in government and the private sector working as environmental management systems managers, auditors, policy analysts, environmentalist, parks rangers and natural resource managers.

Note: Residential schools involve CQU staff and visiting experts and often include seminars, field trips and other 'hands on' activities.
Students should refer to the course profiles for residential school details for individual courses of study.
Since most students will be working full-time, it is envisaged that many students may take up to four years to complete the Graduate Diploma (1 course per term).
