  • Entry requirements
    Applicants for admission to the Master of Editing and Publishing by dissertation must have successfully completed all the courses in the Graduate Diploma of Editing and Publishing (including an approved course in Research Methodology) with a grade point average 4.6 out of 7 (i.e. credit level) or better.

    International applicants must have met the University's English language requirements or have completed the University's ELICOS/UNIPREP program.
  • Course description
    Objectives:

    On successful completion of the program students will:

    -be able to demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of design concepts, technical skills, -legal and ethical constraints, and editorial processes in the publishing environment
    -be able to apply theoretical understanding and decision-making processes in the -planning, production, editing and coordination of publication of work to professional standards
    -be able to demonstrate possession of skills required to publish to professional standards
    -be able to demonstrate a knowledge of the principles and issues in editing and publishing;

    have acquired either:
    -appropriate skills in research methodology
    -basic web publishing skills
    -contextual theoretical knowledge relevant to modern communication
    -have developed skills and competence in either:
    -conceiving, planning, researching and executing a dissertation requiring research, -scholarship, composition and interpretation at an advanced level
    -multimedia publishing
    -further web skills and theoretical content.


    This program gives students the opportunity to further develop their skills and understanding of the theoretical, legal, ethical and practical elements of editing and publishing and of publishing management. Study consists of both coursework and two multimedia management courses.
