The main site of the BRIT Castlemaine Campus is located in Lyttleton Street in the old School of Mines building, between the shire offices and the courthouse. While this historical building dates back to 1889, inside contains modern learning facilities, including: computer facilities, student kitchens and courtyard facilities.
BRIT Castlemaine Campus services the Mount Alexander Shire and its surrounds. Being one of BRIT’s smaller campuses, we can offer friendly and personal service to our diverse student population – whether young or mature age students or to our many industry clients.
The campus serves community needs by offering a diverse range of programs. Nationally accredited training, short courses and industry training in important and growing study areas, are offered in: Business Studies, Information Technology (specialising in self-paced and flexible learning), Engineering (specialising in Welding and Metal Fabrication), Professional Writing (including open learning off-campus study), Auto CAD (Basic and Advanced), Food Hygiene, Hospitality courses including RSA, Industry Licensing in the areas of Forklift, Red Card and Worksite Traffic Management. The campus also has a Beekeeping course for people who wish to commence keeping bees as a hobby.
The Engineering courses are taught at the Castlemaine Secondary College – where students benefit from a large theory room, student lounge and workshop. Our Engineering apprentices have had outstanding success in the Worldskills competition over a number of years.
The campus continues to build on its established links with industry, including involvement with the local business and metals industries. These links help to ensure that our training is relevant and responsive to industry and student needs. The Campus staff are dedicated and enthusiastic professionals.
